New equipment, containers storage facilities, and loose goods processing facilities are already functioning in Bulgaria's Danube port of Svishtov, but the modernization continues.
The construction of a new railroad track is still in progress. The project has already cost BGN 5 M, the Pari Daily reported.
Svishtov Port container terminal is the nearest point to the capital Sofia, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Central and North Bulgaria where cargo through the Danube river can be shipped.
This makes transportation of cargo to Bulgaria's biggest cities considerably cheaper.
Transport companies from Macedonia and Kosovo have showed interest in using the port of Svishtov, instead of the Greek Port Thessaloniki.
