SVISHTOV AS A CRUISE DESTINATION IN ROMANIA

International Port Svishtov organized extremely spectacular presentation of the possibilities for cruise tourism that the beautiful Danubian town offers at the “ITF-2007” Fair in Bucharest, Romania that was held from 18.10 to 21.10.2007. An “old sea-dog” in uniform introduced the Romanian visitors to the possibilities of cruise tourism to and from Svishtov with the biggest 200-seated ship that runs between Bulgaria, Romania and the Danube islands. There are no Danube cruises offered in Romania, except for the river delta. For those who live in Bucharest and in its region it is rather a long way off and could not be realized in one day. And Svishtov is only 100 km away and by crossing the river with the ship route between Svishtov and Zimnich the Romanian citizens could spend a pleasant day saturated with shopping and entertainment. The cruise ship will travel between the Bulgarian and the Romanian coast every Friday-Saturday-Sunday, regardless of the weather conditions, because more and more Romanians arrive for the weekend for shopping and entertainment at Svishtov. During bad weather the passengers would be able to enjoy the beauty of the River Danube through the panoramic windows of the two inner, air-conditioned saloons and to warm up with a cocktail on board. The presented possibilities of Svishtov municipality for cultural, eco and hunting tourism in the region are also of great interest.
